Social media community guidelines

We’ve put together the following guidelines to ensure our social media channels remain a pleasant, enjoyable and informative place for our online community.

Our guidelines

General information

The Donkey Sanctuary currently operates five global social media accounts on Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.

We strive to deliver content which is entertaining, informative, educational and of interest to our wide and diverse online community.

We welcome your input into the content we share across social media, so if you have any comments or suggestions about how we could improve our offering, please contact our digital team.

Messages and comments

Our team are usually available to respond to messages and comments on weekdays between 08:30 and 16:30 (UK time). Although we endeavour to read/respond to all messages and comments in a timely manner, we cannot guarantee that any response will be immediate.

Please do not contact us via social media for urgent advice, requests or welfare concerns. If you have concerns about the health of a donkey or mule in your care, always consult a vet immediately. If you are concerned about the welfare of a donkey through cruelty or neglect in the UK, please contact our welfare team

We welcome the comments, feedback and opinions of our followers both positive and negative. The views expressed by other users on our social media platforms do not necessarily represent those of The Donkey Sanctuary.

Community guidelines

To make sure our social media accounts remain a pleasant, enjoyable and informative platform for our community as a whole, we do ask you to follow our community guidelines.

Please ensure that anything that you post on our page is tasteful, appropriate, and suitable for all ages. When engaging with other people, please remain polite and civil, and make sure you respect any views that may differ from your own.

Moderation

To ensure a positive and safe experience for our online community, all incoming posts, comments and messages are monitored and moderated.

We would never censor any comment or opinion shared to our social media channels unduly, however, we do reserve the right remove any post, comment or message (where possible) that infringes upon the guidelines outlined above. Depending on the severity, we may also take the decision to ban or block users.

Please be aware that our accounts are not monitored outside of office hours. If you would like to report anything that you feel is inappropriate or has breached our guidelines, please contact our digital team.
