We offer several ways for you to pay tribute to the life of someone special. Your gift will help make a lasting difference in their name to the lives of the donkeys they loved.

Donate in memory of your loved one

Ensure the memory of your loved one lives on by making a donation in their name that will enrich the lives of donkeys and the communities they serve every single day.   

You can also donate on behalf of a funeral or memorial collection. 

If you are an executor or family member of someone who has left a gift to The Donkey Sanctuary in their will or in a ‘letter of wishes’ and you want to make payment of this please contact our Legacy Administration team.

Raise money for your loved one

Celebrate the life of someone special to you by setting up a JustGiving page for friends and family to make donations and share memories.  

To set up your JustGiving page, simply select ‘Start fundraising’, then sign up to create your account.  

If you’d like to hold a special fundraising event or undertake a fundraising run, challenge or something else to raise funds in memory of your loved one, you will find inspiration on our Get Involved page.

Remembering loved ones at our Sidmouth site

Please note that unfortunately we are no longer able to offer memorial plaques next to trees or on benches at our Sidmouth site. 

Over the years, it has been our privilege to remember and honour loved ones through memorial plaques and we will of course continue to cherish the memory of each and every one. However, we currently maintain 8 miles of walkways housing memorial trees and plaques and unfortunately we have now run out of both space and capacity to install more, without compromising the care and attention we give to each one of our existing plaques.  

We are currently looking into alternative ways of remembering a loved one at our Sidmouth sanctuary. 

Our existing memorial benches, trees and plaques remain the property of The Donkey Sanctuary who are responsible for maintenance and upkeep. 

We want all visitors to enjoy our natural, beautiful surroundings. Artificial flowers and ornaments are not allowed to be placed on memorial benches, trees or plaques, and shrubs are also not allowed to be planted around the memorial trees. Please understand that we will remove these to protect the welfare of the donkeys and other wildlife. 

Every single donation made in memory of a loved one will help make a life-saving difference in their name to the donkeys they cherished.
