This course introduces the concepts of One Health and One Welfare and explores the role of donkeys and mules within these contexts, using examples from around the globe.

The course aims to give a solid understanding of One Health and One Welfare and to help understand the role of the donkeys and mules within the context of One Health, with an awareness of the interlinked nature of human handler, donkey and environmental health.

Course details

The concept of One Health refers to the interdependence of human, animal and environmental health. Donkeys and mules play a pivotal role around the globe in supporting human health and wellbeing. This course introduces the concepts of One Health and One Welfare and explores the role of donkeys and mules within these contexts, using examples from around the globe. Relationships between human and donkey health and welfare and sustainable solutions for reducing the environmental impact from domesticated donkey keeping are explored.
